Let's Learn How to Use a Ruler!
This activity can be used as a starting point to introduce measurement with standard measurement tools. It focuses on the most basic standard measurement tool, which is the ruler.
Objective:
Students will learn how to use and read a ruler in standard measurement units.Activity:
Draw or paste pictures of different
readings of rulers and explain how to read a basic ruler in centimeters.
Then demonstrate how to measure the
length of a linear object within the classroom (eg: Text book) and ask the
students to do the same with their notebooks using their rulers.
Finally have them do the activity sheet for further practice.
