Activity 4: Standard Measurement

Let's Play Measure My Friend!

This is an activity which would be quite fun and exciting for children as they get to measure their friends, which for them would be like playing with each other but really they would be learning at the same time.

Objective:

Students will learn how to measure parts of the body using standard measurement tools.

Activity:

Demonstrate how to use a measuring tape to measure the length of different parts of the body and how to use a scale to measure the weight of a person.
Have them work in pairs and complete an activity sheet where they have to measure each other and note down their measurements. Call it a game named 'Measure My Friend' to make it seem more exciting and fun.
